Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, long pants, closed-toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  2. Clear Work Area: Remove stones, sticks, wire, and other debris that could be thrown by the trimmer.
  3. Fuel Safety: For gas models, refuel outdoors only when engine is cool. Use proper fuel/oil mix.
  4. Electric Safety: For corded models, use grounded outlet and keep cord away from cutting area.
  5. Operation: Keep bystanders and pets at least 50 feet away during operation.

WARNING! Risk of serious injury or death from rotating cutting line. Never operate without guard in place. Do not use for hedge trimming or brush cutting.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack all parts. Assemble according to included diagram.

  1. Attach Shaft: Connect upper and lower shaft sections; tighten locking mechanism.
  2. Install Handle: Slide handle onto shaft at comfortable position; secure with provided bolts.
  3. Attach Guard: Align guard with cutting head; secure with screws or clips.
  4. Install Cutting Line: Thread trimmer line through eyelets on spool; wind evenly following arrows.
  5. Fuel Mix (Gas): For 2-cycle engines, mix gasoline with 2-cycle oil at specified ratio (typically 50:1).

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tight before operation. Check for proper line installation to prevent jamming.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Controls located on handle: Throttle trigger, Throttle lock, Stop switch.

Starting Procedure (Gas): 1. Move stop switch to ON. 2. Press primer bulb 5-10 times. 3. Set choke to FULL. 4. Pull starter cord briskly until engine fires. 5. Move choke to HALF, pull again. 6. Allow warm-up before trimming.

Starting (Electric): Plug into grounded outlet (corded) or insert charged battery (cordless). Squeeze throttle trigger and safety lock simultaneously.

Stopping: Release throttle trigger. For gas models, move stop switch to OFF position.

Trimming Techniques

Proper technique ensures efficient cutting and extends equipment life.

  1. Hold trimmer with both hands; maintain firm grip.
  2. Keep cutting head parallel to ground and slightly above grass level.
  3. Use sweeping motion from side to side; overlap passes slightly.
  4. For edging, tilt trimmer so line cuts vertically along sidewalk or driveway.
  5. Avoid cutting near fences, trees, or walls to prevent line wear.
  6. Do not force trimmer; let line speed do the cutting.

Tip: Work from left to right if right-handed (vice versa for left-handed) for better debris control.

Line Replacement

Replace line when worn short or broken.

  1. Stop engine/motor and disconnect spark plug or power source.
  2. Remove spool: Press tabs or turn retaining knob counterclockwise.
  3. Remove old line; clean spool and housing.
  4. Cut two equal lengths of recommended line (typically 10-15 feet each).
  5. Insert ends into spool anchors; wind in direction of arrows until 6 inches remain.
  6. Thread ends through eyelets; reassemble spool into head.
  7. Pull lines to release from retainers.

WARNING! Use only manufacturer-recommended line diameter. Do not use metal wire or fishing line.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck for loose fasteners; inspect line and guard
After each useClean debris from guard and cooling fins
Every 25 hoursClean/replace air filter (gas); check spark plug
Every 50 hoursReplace fuel filter (gas); lubricate drive shaft
SeasonallyDrain fuel (gas); inspect/replace worn parts

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug or power before performing maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents damage and ensures ready use.

  1. For gas models: Drain fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer. Run engine for 2 minutes to circulate stabilized fuel.
  2. Clean entire unit; remove grass and debris.
  3. Store in dry, covered area away from children and pets.
  4. Hang vertically or lay flat to prevent shaft bending.
  5. For electric models: Remove battery and store separately at room temperature.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank indoors or in enclosed spaces due to fire risk.
