  1. Starting: Sit on seat, set parking brake, PTO OFF, throttle to FAST, turn key.
  2. Driving: Release parking brake. Press drive pedal forward to go forward, reverse to go backward. Speed is controlled by pedal pressure.

  4. Stopping: Disengage PTO, move drive pedal to neutral, engage parking brake, turn key OFF.

Tip: Always mow at full throttle for best cutting performance and engine health.

Cutting Deck & Blades

Proper deck maintenance ensures a clean cut and long life.

  1. Blade Inspection: Disconnect spark plug wire. Check blades for sharpness, balance, and damage monthly. Replace if bent or excessively worn.
  2. Deck Cleaning: After each use, clean underside of deck to prevent grass buildup and corrosion.
  3. Deck Leveling: Check deck level periodically. Place mower on flat surface, measure blade tip height at all four corners, adjust deck hangers as needed.
  4. Belt Inspection: Check deck drive belt for cracks, fraying, or wear. Replace if necessary.

WARNING! Always disconnect the spark plug before performing any work under the deck.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck engine oil level, tire pressure, and for loose parts.
Every 8 hoursClean deck underside, check blades.
Every 25 hoursChange engine oil (first change at 5-8 hours).
Every 50 hoursReplace air filter, check spark plug, grease fittings.
Every 100 hoursReplace oil filter (if equipped), check drive belt tension.

Engine Care

Regular engine maintenance is crucial.

  1. Oil Change: Use SAE 30 (above 40°F) or 10W-30 (variable temps). Drain when warm. Refill to full mark on dipstick.
  2. Air Filter: Replace paper filter or clean foam pre-cleaner regularly. A dirty filter reduces power and increases fuel consumption.
  3. Spark Plug: Clean and re-gap (0.030 inch) or replace annually.
  4. Fuel System: Use fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days. Replace fuel filter annually.
  5. Cooling Fins: Keep engine cooling fins and shrouds clean of debris.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents problems next season.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil and filter (if equipped).
  3. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil into cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to coat, reinstall plug.
  4. Clean the entire mower thoroughly, especially the cutting deck.
  5. Disconnect and remove battery; store in a cool, dry place on a trickle charger.
  6. Store in a clean, dry place, preferably covered.

CAUTION! Never store the mower with fuel in the tank in an enclosed area near an open flame or spark.
