Safety Guidelines

Always follow safety rules to prevent injury.

Before Operation: Read manual, clear mowing area of debris, wear protective gear (glasses, boots), ensure no bystanders.

During Operation: Stay seated, keep hands/feet away from moving parts, do not carry passengers, watch for obstacles.

Slopes: Mow up and down, not across. Use low speed. Avoid sudden turns.

Children: Keep children away from mowing area. Never allow operation by untrained persons.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures performance and extends mower life.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck tire pressure, oil level, fuel, clear deck
Every 8 hoursCheck battery terminals, inspect blades
Every 25 hoursChange engine oil (first 5 hours for break-in)
Every 50 hoursReplace air filter, check spark plug
Every 100 hoursReplace fuel filter, lubricate chassis points
SeasonallySharpen/replace blades, check belt tension

Cutting Deck Adjustment

Proper deck leveling ensures even cut.

  1. Park on level surface, set cutting height to middle position.
  2. Measure blade tip height from ground at all four corners.
  3. Adjust deck lift linkage to level (front slightly lower than rear for best discharge).
  4. Check belt tension: Should deflect 1/2 inch under moderate pressure.
  5. Blade sharpening: Remove deck, secure blade, sharpen at original angle.

Tip: Disconnect spark plug wire before servicing deck or blades.

Engine Care

Briggs & Stratton engine requires regular maintenance.

Oil Change: Run engine to warm oil, drain via plug, refill with SAE 30 (check dipstick).

Air Filter: Replace paper element; clean foam pre-filter if equipped.

Spark Plug: Gap at 0.030 inches, replace annually.

Fuel System: Use fresh fuel, add stabilizer for storage, replace fuel filter annually.

Cooling Fins: Keep clean of grass/debris for proper cooling.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents damage during off-season.

  1. Clean mower thoroughly, especially underside of deck.
  2. Change engine oil and replace filter.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine 5 minutes, then shut off fuel valve.
  4. Remove battery, store fully charged in cool, dry place.
  5. Store in dry, covered location, preferably on blocks to relieve tire pressure.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank without stabilizer. Gasoline degrades over time.
