Engine Oil & Filter

Use high-quality detergent oil classified "For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ" or higher.

  1. Run engine to warm oil for easier drainage.
  2. Place drain pan under oil drain plug.
  3. Remove drain plug and allow oil to drain completely.
  4. Replace drain plug and tighten securely.
  5. Refill with recommended oil to proper level.
  6. Replace oil filter every 100 hours or as needed.

CAUTION! Hot oil can cause burns. Allow engine to cool slightly before draining.

Air Filter & Spark Plug

Air Filter Service: Remove housing cover, clean foam pre-filter in warm soapy water, replace paper element if dirty or damaged.

Spark Plug Service: Remove spark plug wire, clean area, remove plug with socket. Check gap (0.030"), adjust if necessary. Replace if electrodes are worn or cracked.

Tip: Always use genuine Briggs & Stratton replacement parts for optimal performance.

Fuel System

Use fresh unleaded gasoline with minimum 87 octane. Add fuel stabilizer for storage over 30 days.

  1. Check fuel lines for cracks or leaks regularly.
  2. Replace fuel filter annually or if clogged.
  3. Clean fuel tank sediment cup if equipped.
  4. Ensure fuel cap vent is clear.

WARNING! Gasoline is flammable. No smoking during refueling. Refuel outdoors only.

Cooling & Exhaust

Air-cooled engine requires clear cooling fins and proper airflow.

CAUTION! Muffler gets extremely hot during operation. Allow to cool before touching.

Storage & Winterization

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to tank and run engine for 5 minutes.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil to cylinder, crank engine slowly, reinstall plug.
  4. Clean entire engine and cooling fins.
  5. Store in dry, covered location.
