Assembly Instructions

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires basic tools (included).

  1. Attach the handle: Align lower handle with deck brackets, secure with bolts and wing nuts.
  2. Install the grass bag: Attach bagger frame to rear deck hooks, then clip bag onto frame.
  3. Attach the discharge chute: For side discharge, snap chute into deck opening.
  4. Install the mulching plug: For mulching, insert plug into deck opening.
  5. Add oil and gasoline: Fill engine with SAE 30 oil (check dipstick) and unleaded gasoline.

WARNING! Always wear gloves during assembly. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely. Do not add gasoline indoors or near open flames.

First-Time Setup & Operation

Before first use, perform pre-operation checks.

  1. Check oil level: Ensure oil is at full mark on dipstick.
  2. Add fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline with minimum 87 octane. Do not overfill.
  3. Adjust cutting height: Set lever to desired height (start at highest setting for first mow).
  4. Start the engine: Set throttle to FAST, press primer bulb 3 times, pull starter cord firmly.
  5. Engage self-propulsion: Squeeze drive control lever against handle to move forward.
  6. Mow: Overlap each pass by a few inches for even cutting. Empty bag when full.

CAUTION! Clear mowing area of debris. Do not mow on wet grass. Always turn off engine before adjusting height or unclogging deck.

  3. Change oil: First 5 hours, then every 50 hours or seasonally. Use SAE 30.
  4. Air filter: Clean foam pre-cleaner every 25 hours; replace paper filter annually.
  5. Spark plug: Clean and gap (0.030") every 100 hours; replace annually.
  6. Wheels and drive: Lubricate wheel axles and drive cables annually.

Tip: Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Prepare mower for off-season storage.

  1. Fuel system: Add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine 5 minutes, or drain tank completely.
  2. Oil: Change oil if due.
  3. Clean: Thoroughly clean deck, wheels, and engine area.
  4. Blade: Sharpen and balance blade.
  5. Battery (if electric start): Remove and store fully charged in cool, dry place.
