Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operating.

  1. Clear mowing area of debris, toys, and obstacles.
  2. Always wear sturdy shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection.
  3. Do not carry passengers.
  4. Do not mow on slopes greater than 15 degrees.
  5. Disengage blades before crossing driveways or gravel.
  6. Stop engine and remove key before performing maintenance.

WARNING! Gasoline is flammable. Refuel outdoors only when engine is cool. Do not smoke near fuel.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Install steering wheel: Align and tighten bolt.
  2. Attach seat: Position on frame and secure with provided bolts.
  3. Connect battery: Attach red (+) then black (-) terminals.
  4. Check tire pressure: Inflate to 14 PSI (front) and 10 PSI (rear).
  5. Add engine oil: Use SAE 30 (check manual for capacity).
  6. Add gasoline: Use fresh, unleaded 87 octane minimum.

CAUTION! Mower is heavy; use assistance during assembly. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely.

Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with controls before starting.

Dashboard: Ignition key, PTO switch, Choke, Throttle, Cruise control lever, Headlight switch.

Pedals: Hydrostatic drive pedal (forward/reverse), Brake pedal.

Operation Steps:

  1. Park on level surface, set parking brake.
  2. Disengage PTO (blades off).
  3. Set throttle to fast position, pull choke if cold.
  4. Turn key to START; release when engine starts.
  5. Push choke in after engine warms.
  6. To mow: Engage PTO, release parking brake, press drive pedal.
  7. To stop: Disengage PTO, engage parking brake, turn key to OFF.

Engine Care

Deck & Blade Maintenance

For a clean cut and long deck life.

  1. Disconnect spark plug wire before servicing deck.
  2. Raise deck to highest position and secure with blocks.
  3. Remove blades: Use block of wood to prevent rotation, loosen bolt (typically 15/16" socket).
  4. Sharpen blades: Maintain original cutting angle. Balance blade before reinstalling.
  5. Clean underside of deck after each use to prevent rust and buildup.
  6. Check belt for cracks and proper tension every 25 hours.

WARNING! Blades are sharp. Wear heavy gloves when handling.

Storage & Winterization

Prepare mower for extended storage (e.g., winter).

  1. Add fuel stabilizer to tank and run engine for 5 minutes to circulate.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Remove spark plug, add 1 tablespoon of oil into cylinder, pull starter cord slowly to coat, reinstall plug.
  4. Clean entire mower, especially deck underside.
  5. Store in a cool, dry place, preferably on a level surface.
  6. Disconnect battery negative terminal if storing over 60 days.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel in tank for over 6 months without stabilizer.
