Starting Procedure:

Mowing Operation:

  1. Engage PTO lever to start blades.
  2. Select cutting height via deck lift lever.
  3. Use forward/reverse pedals to control speed.
  4. For slopes, mow up and down, not across.
  5. Disengage PTO before stopping or reversing.

Maintenance Schedule

Engine Care

  1. Oil Change: Run engine to warm oil; drain via plug; refill with 48 oz (approx.) of recommended oil.
  2. Air Filter: Replace paper filter or clean foam pre-cleaner.
  3. Spark Plug: Gap to 0.030 inches; replace annually.
  4. Fuel System: Use fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days.
  5. Cooling Fins: Keep clean to prevent overheating.

CAUTION! Never run engine without oil or air filter.

Cutting Deck Maintenance

Proper deck care ensures a clean cut and prevents damage.

  1. Blade Sharpening: Remove deck; secure blade; sharpen at 30-degree angle; balance before reinstalling.
  2. Deck Cleaning: Scrape off grass buildup after each use.
  3. Belt Inspection: Check for cracks or wear; adjust tension if loose.
  4. Deck Leveling: Measure blade tips to ground; adjust hangers to within 1/4 inch.

Storage & Winterization

Prepare tractor for extended storage, especially over winter.
