  1. Ignition Switch: Key-operated with positions for OFF, RUN, and START.

  3. Spark Plug: Gap: 0.030 inches. Replace with Champion RC12YC or equivalent. Torque to 18 ft-lbs.
  4. Fuel System: Replace inline fuel filter annually. Clean sediment cup if equipped.

Cutting Deck

  1. Blade Removal/Sharpening: Block deck up securely. Remove blade bolt (usually left-hand thread). Sharpen blade evenly to maintain balance. Replace if cracked or badly worn.
  2. Deck Leveling: Place tractor on level surface. Measure blade tip height at all four corners of deck. Adjust via lift linkage rods to achieve even height (front slightly lower than rear for best performance).
  3. Belt Replacement: Deck belt Part # 140294. Release tension from idler spring. Route new belt according to diagram on deck housing.
  4. Cleaning: After each use, scrape debris from underside of deck with a putty knife. Hose clean if necessary, but avoid direct spray on pulleys and spindles.
